talking to elaine is such a happy thing 8) elaine elaine what did i do to meet someone as wonderful as you (:

service. service learning. the whole concept of CIP hours is so overrated and over glorified. i don't see what's the big deal in the number of hours you clock- sure, it gives you motivation to do something, but it also makes many people do things for the wrong reasons. if you get 200 hours and many LEAP points, it doesn't count for anything if you're not doing it at least partially because you want to help the people who need it. it frustrates me so much that people keep saying "Oh i'm going to do this SL project because it gives me many hours!!" or "oh i'm going to help out at this organisation because it looks good on my portfolio!" in rgs, there're so many SL projects, so many CmPS projects, so many YFC projects, so many campaigns for donation or action or whatever. but none of them lasts past the period of time of competition, or the end of the year. why? why do people care so much about the hours and not about the actual spirit of helping others? i want to make a difference, i really do, and not just some temporary thing that lasts till the end of the year. something that i can work for continuously, something that i will believe in.
