read priya's blog and i realised that i haven't blogged about national day, and ndp celebrations. the parade was okay, it was pretty much just stoning there in front of the flagpole and resisting the urge to shuffle my feet. the performances were quite hilarious with all the laughing at people that we know haha (: the best part was the songs though- going all high with 13atch (or those who were there anyway) and jumping around insanely and going all out of breathe- i love it. rgs ndp often seems so much more a celebration of school spirit than national spirit.
hmm i don't think there's anything special about national itself- i've never understood why it's so special to celebrate a nation on one day itself, or anything for that matter. it just feels the same as any day? i'm not sure why it's necessary for so many people to attach the meaning to one specific day- does it mean that you don't love singapore on every other day then? for me, loving something doesn't have to be on any special day. if you love something, or someone, you love it. you don't need a special occasion to love it.
