second bronze medal for Singapore and very very proud of Singapore (': I don't know why Singaporeans insist on always complaining about how government policies suck because they are really trying to get the best for the country, just perhaps not in the way that some people welcome. it's true that we have a long way to go, but it's also true that we've come a long way and so many times people get so caught up in what we can do, what we should do that we completely forget how far we've come. and we have come so far, in less than 50 years how many countries can achieve what we've done? i don't think this is just a sudden burst of patriotism but i really do love this place, small and imperfect and all. i guess when you travel many places and see the exoticism of it all you also learn to appreciate what this place offers.
it frustrates me so much that people are constantly complaining about how the paddlers were born in china and so they're not singaporean. i'm sorry, but just because you have an inflated sense of pride and exclusivity doesn't mean anything. because honestly, you don't have to be born in singapore to be singaporean. and the funny thing is, these people are most often those that complain about how terrible singapore is and really, what a hypocrite. you complain that they are not singaporean, then you wish you weren't singaporean. hello? i don't think it matters where they are born, it matters where your heart belongs. and for all you people, you think you can do better? no? okay then, stop complaining about them. it's quite ridiculous.
nevertheless i'm very proud of Team Singapore in the olympics, I think they've done great despite all of them sporting injuries. they played amazingly today, really.
happy birthday singapore (:
